Q: Is the permanent makeup process actually a tattoo?
A: Yes, the SofTap® process of permanent make up is a cosmetic tattoo. SofTap® pigments include iron oxide and glycerin. Softap® does not use FD&C or D&C dyes in their pigments.
Q: Does the SofTap® procedure hurt?
A: The sensation can be loosely compared to tweezing the eyebrows. For your comfort, a topical anesthetic is used. The most common answers are "It wasn't bad at all", "I fell asleep", "Tweezing hurts more", I'm going back to get everything else done". SofTap® provides the maximum amount of comfort for all of your procedures. It is so gentle. You have to feel it to believe it.
Q: What is the recovery time after a permanent makeup procedure?
A: The hand method of micropigmentation results in less trauma to the skin and no bruising of the eye and eyebrow area. It is common for a person to return to work the same day. Lips, however, will have some residual swelling.
The basic principles of traditional tattooing and cosmetic tattooing have many similarities and are related. However, the face is different than the body. Different colors are used. Meaning pigment, not ink in most cases and we use a lot of tertiary colors, not straight primary colors, that can last a lot longer under the skin.
Jane Adler is an award winning permanent cosmetic tattoo artist and in business since 1994.
