Question to Jane Adler: Is permanent makeup really permanent?

Answer from Jane Adler: Here is my simplest answer to this frequently asked question:

The word permanent means "cannot be washed off". Permanent makeup is tattooing.

The basic principles of traditional tattooing and cosmetic tattooing (permanent makeup) have similarities and are related. However, the face is different from the rest of the body. Different colors are used. We use pigment, not ink, and we use tertiary colors instead of primary colors -- these last longer under the skin.

The reality is that permanent makeup is permanent. The pigment particle remains under the skin but may fade over time. Touchups range 1 to 10 years. Meaning will vary on an individual basis. The face also exfoliates at a faster rate than the body and is exposed to more sun and products. Also we do not wear clothing over our faces.

Jane Adler utilizes the SofTap® method of manually implanting pigment into the dermal layer of the skin. This method is safe and gently produces natural looking permanent makeup. The colors are subtle and can be worn alone or highlighted with traditional cosmetics to create the desired look for any occasion.
